On my recent trip to Rome I searched my wardrobe for the perfect night out dress. I’d had some killer day outfits that you can see here and here. Please do go check them out if you’re looking for some city searching inspiration that will keep you cool and chic on your break. But if you’re searching for the perfect occasion dress, carry on reading. Now, I must hold my hands up immediately and confess this Monsoon dress does not belong to me, it is my beautiful sisters who kindly lent me it for a wedding (note to self to return- but just a little longer please). It is all kinds of beautiful and certainly not something I would have picked but I’m so glad she offered to lend this to me and insisted that it would fit! (It’s a size 14) Thanks Sapph!
I wore it for a meal out on our first night and I must admit I felt very glamorous wandering the streets on Rome in it, and you simply cannot be too over the top here. As you can see I strolled around my hotel a little while in it first, just to be sure it was THE outfit to wear on the night. I kept jewellery to a minimum wanting all focus to be on the dress.
The fit is beautiful and pulls in just under the bust giving plenty of breathing room for those delicious Bruchetta and mozzarella dishes. The beautiful pastel colours are contrasted with the gold and black stripes which completely create a delicious aesthetic. I had a large thin oversized black coat that I put on top but it was a little warm for me (I am from England so the smallest bit of heat and I’m there!)
The wedges are from New Look and are the most comfortable heels I own. Being a little bit taller than my average heel height I shot up to 6 ft 2 in these and could stand tall and proud knowing they were nice and sturdy for the cobbled streets of Rome.
