Sleep: it can make such a difference to your mood. Having spent the full first year of Jasper’s life pretty sleep deprived it’s lovely to be getting a full solid stint of sleep and I intend to keep it that way. Here are 4 ways to get a better nights sleep.
Exercise
Just a good walk or a 30-60 min exercise routine a day can help your body switch off easier at night. You burn that little bit of extra energy off and it exhausts your muscles. You’ll be sleeping a lot more soundly if you’ve tired yourself out a bit.
A Routine
Without repeating what I stress with my Toddler, a good routine can help ease yourself into an evening. I try keep some loose form of a plan. A bath, a tv programme to settle to and to lay down at least 1 hour before I plan on sleeping. I’ve recently introduced a no phone after 9:30pm to stop the glaring screen keeping me awake.
Pillows
A good pillow can help ease you to sleep, after all it’s what you rest your noddy on to drift off so it really is a vital part of your bedding. When Beautiful Sleep Limited, offered to send me some new pillows to help I was on board. The medium soft pillows I’ve been testing are part of the Gx Suspension range. The filling inside is carefully distributed to offer more support for a longer, undisturbed nights sleep. To keep its shape, all you need to do is turn it over every day! I’ve found them to be perfectly supporting, soft enough but with reassurance that it’s supporting my vital neck muscles and head.
Music
I’ve recently started introducing a sleep timer with meditation music on. By having no images to distract me I tend to soothe myself to sleep with these sounds.
