The post is in Collaboration with Tuffx Glass, as such I have a received a fee to write about my home, but all words, tips and opinions are my own
It’s all those little things isn’t it? The small touches, the interior features that just go with your personality to a T. When we purchased our home the walls were painted red (crikeeeey), the carpets had been sat for around 50 years and the ceiling was artex. It wasn’t what I imagined my home to be like at all. I’d dreamt of white walls, numerous plants, light living spaces and above all somewhere I felt comfortable and safe. Being the ambitious, enthusiastic early 20 year olds we were, we were excited to take it on as a project. Here’s a couple of things we did to make our house a home:

Let there be Light
Firstly, we removed all heavy curtains. Behind them, we uncovered net curtains which made my skin crawl so they were also quickly disposed of. It was time to let in the gorgeous light and create an open airy space.
I cannot stress the importance of good lighting in a house. By using glass and open spaces we were able to dramatically change the feel of our home. If you’re renovating a home, then you’ll need to check out your windows and glass fittings. Tuffx Glass, specialists in toughened safety glass manufacturing are working tirelessly to the latest innovation in the glass industry to improve the quality of glass in both residential and domestic projects. You’ve possibly seen their work on the likes of the Shard in London. They have over 25 years manufacturing experience and accept minimum orders from £100+ vat (so don’t be thinking it’s big projects only, they catered for individual project homes).
We added Venetian Blinds throughout our home, both for security purposes and as they let the most light in. One these were fitted we got onto the electric light solutions. All ceiling lights were changed into ones that fit our style and a couple of modern lamps were placed strategically around our rooms.

All the Little Touches
I honestly believe that adding rugs, plants and pictures can dramatically transform a space into exactly what you’d like it to be. You can do this at little cost depending on your preferences. Garden centre’s became my weekend location of choice as they have the BEST house plants, and I became a googler of all things second hand or vintage. Bit by bit, I was adding little touches of my personality across my home, all whilst finding my own personal style.

The Memories and the People
Ultimately, the thing that makes my house a home is the memories and people that fill it. This is the home we got married in, bought our first dog, had our first child. It’s full of memories of parties, movie nights and silly games. In whatever space you call your home, if you fill it with those you love you’re bound to be surrounded by wealth.
