Below lies a poem I wrote when I facing quite a difficult decision in my life. I felt extremely lonely and frustrated with my circumstances and could not find my way out. I’ve always been better at blurting my words out onto a page and I hear that a few of you liked my last poem like this so I thought I’d write another one. I hope you enjoy it and find the humour in my unfortunate circumstance at the time. Safe to say, I’m a-OK now and have worked my way through this one.
When you need someone to talk to:
When you need someone to talk to, who is there for you?
Is it your teacher, your pal or that girl you met in the loo?
What if you feel there’s no-one, not one who hears your cry
Then you’re left feeling miserable and begin to wonder why
Why does no-one hear you? Not one person thinks twice
About the girl who ‘has her act together’ and seems overly nice
Did you ever wonder what’s occurin’ in that head of hers?
Is it fear of purpose, or that deep feeling that recurs
That endless pit, the inner doubt that keeps her feeling blue
Or simply that no one has asked ‘how do you do?’
It’s been so long since family’s asked, it’s a pain to query why
All of the sudden, the bright minded girl is overcome quite shy
But never mind, ‘she’s strong, she’s got her act together’
Although she’s feeling relatively down ‘under the weather’
The feeling will pass, she’ll get her spark again
Perhaps it’s time to make a change and we’re all wondering when
Is she brave enough to make that jump, or will she fall and falter?
Course she’ll do it, after all she’s the Engineer’s daughter.
