Let’s talk hair extensions. I have tried just about every method of extension and those who know me know my favourite method by far is the tape in method. For those who don’t know, Thin, strips of hair extension are applied to your hair via tiny “tapes”. This tape doesn’t damage your hair, it doesn’t hurt and as they’re so small and flat, they leave you with effortlessly thick, luxurious hair if done right. I’ve been using this method for years to thicken up the sides of my hair (I’ve also had a full hesd of them too) so I like to think I know what’s what with them. When Rubin Extensions got in touch to see if I’d like to try their tape ins, I couldn’t resist!
Rubin extensions are a Switzerland based company providing quality hair at affordable prices. They offer many methods of hair and different grades. They sent me some of their deluxe line hair with some accompanying products (shampoo, conditioner, glue loosener for the tapes, hair brush etc) to try out and put to the test.
The product arrived speedily, I could see from the box it had even flown in from my local airport! I opened it and was pleasantly surprised with the generous size of the accompanying products. Often shampoo bottles for hair extensions are small and leave you reaching into your pocket far more than you’d like. So it’s great to see such good sizes for these. The hair itself arrived beautifully packaged and with clear instructions on how to use. I opened the first box to get an idea of what I was playing with and at first was a little unenthused at the thickness of the hair (but keep reading) and wondered if I’d ordered enough. Each pack came with 10 tapes and it said you’d need 10-20 for highlights and effects, 20-40 for volume and 40-60 for a full head. I’d stated I had thick hair and had been sent 40 strands but I’d highly recommend going for 60 strands if you have hair as thick as mine. However, as I was using the products mainly to thicken the sides I wasn’t too worried in this instance.
There was a colour chart on their website I used to match up my colour and they have a return guarantee providing you haven’t opened the box. So when it arrives it’s really important to check the colour matches to your hair.
I found the extensions super easy to apply. They come already with pre-prepared tabs on to remove which makes application really easy. On their website they have instructions on how to apply and if you follow these you won’t go too wrong! It also gives expert advice on how to keep them in top shape. I also found them incredibly easy to remove. I’d placed one just a little too high and used their remover to break down the bonding glue and it slid right out without any damage to my hair. What a win!

I’ve had the extensions in for a few weeks now and they’re as if they were fitted the other day. No tangling, top condition and no pain around the application site. All of the things we want to hear when it comes to extension. As I say I have used these to thicken up my sides as 40 strands wouldn’t have been enough to do my very large head (what am I like?!)
They state on their website you can order to anywhere in the world so this is utterly fantastic if you’re a hair extension lover. If you want to be super savvy and try Rubin Extensions there is a 10% discount if you sign up to their newsletter :-).
Have you ever tried tape in hair extensions?
