If you follow me over on instagram, you’ll know that I recently took a little night away to Liverpool. I went with Joe to celebrate our wedding anniversary and honestly, I’m a little shocked that it’s actually been 5 years! Joe had planned the whole time away with some little ideas for trips but I was left in charge of food. Naturally, I took to instagram to ask the people in the know where we should go for coffee, food and drinks. Here are the 3 places that were mentioned over and over again (and spoiler, they were AMAZING).
Leaf on Bold Street
When I first mentioned we were going to Liverpool I got a DM telling me this was a fab spot for coffee. Joe and I absolutely love a good cup of coffee so we had to test it out. They had some lovely food too, but we just stopped for a little filler. We had a brownie to share (gooey and gorgeous) and two flat whites with oat milk. The serving was all via an app with a QR code on the table and it felt really safe. We did sit outside and it was raining, but they had huge parasols to cover you and it wasn’t cold. The interiors inside were lush and green with a richness to it with copper details.
Mowgli
Another firm favourite when it came to asking for places. Mowgli must have been suggested by over 30 people. It’s described as Fresh Indian Home cooking and is a street food restaurant, it felt very luxe. If you’re after an average curry and a pint this isn’t really the place to go. If you want something a little special with TONNES of flavour then this is the one. The spice levels were wonderful and the starters and sharers were so interesting (genuinely). It was a flavour explosion.
We booked a table, and I’m glad we did as it was really busy. Everyone was kept in good distance and it felt a lovely atmosphere.
Baltic Market
This was were things got busy. Super busy. We walked over into this industrial like area of Liverpool and I was a little unsure of where I’d been recommended. After finding what seemed to be a hot spot for nightlife we stumbled across the Baltic Market. An area filled with loads of different cuisines all served via table service.
We queued up outside and were able to get seats outside where it was much less crowded. We ordered via Uber Eats app and had drinks, a seafood meal and pudding all delivered to us at our table. The food was INCREDIBLE, the value for money was amazing and the atmosphere was electric.
All in all it was a wonderful trip and the food certainly did not disappoint. I would head back to each of these places again if I were to revisit, but I have so many more places to tick off my list.
Where would you try for Liverpool?
Violet x
