Instagram can be a great way of keeping up to date on world affairs if you know who to follow. Sometimes it can be hard knowing where to start, and knowing where to find reliable information, but these three Instagram accounts are a really good starting point where you can find simple, generally non-biased accounts of what’s going on, and what you need to know! There are many more out there but be careful as many have strong biases and won’t necessarily report fairly on world news.
- Shit You Should Care About
Shit You Should Care About, often abbreviated to SYSCA, is a fantastic one stop account for everything you need to know about what’s going on in the world. Run from New Zealand, this account covers world events, celebrity gossip, and politics, all delivered to the public along side the occasional Harry Styles appreciation post, just to keep things grounded. - Simple Politics
Simple Politics is run from the UK by Tatton and his small team. The account posts regular breakdowns of important things happening in UK politics, but the best thing about it, is that it’s written in a way that’s easy for everyone to understand. Even if you don’t usually have a clue what’s going on in the political world, this is a good one to follow!
- Politics Joe
A spin off of the regular Joe account (where you can find more pop culture and gossip), Politics Joe has regular politics updates which usually consist of a photo and accompanying headline about something important that’s happened in the UK. You can usually find more information about any of the stories mentioned in the posts by following links in the Politics Joe account bio if you want to learn more. Simple!
