It’s so easy to just flop when your child goes down for a nap, and sometimes that’s exactly what we need. Other times, we might want to feel like we’ve accomplished something, even if it’s something really small. Sit and do nothing to enjoy the quiet for a bit, or tick a few things off your to-do list, either is just fine. Here are some low energy things you could do if you’re looking for some easy ways to feel productive!
Eat something nourishing.
Take the time to find and eat something that’s really nourishing to you. It could be something as simple as a banana, or perhaps a smoothie or yoghurt with some toppings is more your style. If you’re feeling more energetic, why not make your favourite soup or pasta sauce?
Enjoy a little you time
Read a chapter of your book or watch an episode of a TV show. Spending time doing the things you love is constructive, and you’ll feel much better for it!
Do some stretches
Finding a five or ten minute YouTube video of stretches can be a great way to feel more in tune with your body, and ready for the rest of the day! Crack out the yoga mat and do a short yoga session if you’re feeling it!
Enjoy a hot drink
Most parents know the struggle of not being able to drink a hot drink before it goes cold, and reheating cups of tea and coffee more times than they’d like to admit! Use those precious minutes when your little one is napping to actually enjoy your drink when it’s still hot!
Catch up with a friend
Parenthood can make you feel quite isolated at times, so use a quiet ten minutes to catch up with a friend. Give them a call, a message, or a voice note.
Whatever you decide to do with the quiet time when your child is napping, just remember that there is no obligation to get lots done, and sometimes having a little bit of you time is the most constructive thing you can do!
