Over the weekend, we celebrated Goldie’s second birthday and had a lovely day enjoying the garden with some family and friends, good food, and great weather. Here are some aspects of the party I wanted to share;
-
Local suppliers
Using local suppliers is always a fantastic way of keeping money in your local economy and supporting small businesses. In Hull, there are loads of amazing small businesses that can be used for your party planning, including the amazing Stretch Pizza. If you’ve ever fancied having a non-stop supply of freshly baked pizza being produced in a little tent in your garden, then this is definitely one to think about – we certainly enjoyed it!
-
Party bags
Have you ever made party bags full of little plastic trinkets, only to be left wondering how much of it will actually be played with? This year, we decided to change it up and ordered some little sweetie cones which had been put together by a local lady. Instead of sending everyone off with a bag of plastic, they had some delicious sweets to go home and enjoy!

Home baked cake for Goldie’s birthday party
You can never go wrong with a cake at a birthday party, and there’s something really lovely about making it yourself if, like me, you love baking! I baked a chocolate orange cake which looked great on the refreshment table, and it was delicious when we cut into it too!

Thoughtful outfits
I’ve got back to sewing again after a bit of a break, and managed to get a beautiful grey dress for me finished in time for the party. It was the perfect outfit for a day in the sun, and it came out looking beautiful. Goldie was wearing a cute dress from her grandma and looked adorable all day! Thanks to the rise of slow fashion, the days of nipping to the shop to buy a party outfit that will be worn just once or twice are long gone. The days of thoughtful fashion are here to stay!
