Many of us are really feeling the crunch this year thanks to the Cost of Living Crisis that has spread across the UK. Christmas can amount to be quite a costly time of year, but thankfully there are some really great ways to save money, and make money go much further at this tricky time. Here are a few penny pinching ideas to get you started!
-
Shop second hand to cut the cost
Shopping second hand, or thrifting, has become a very on trend thing to do in the past few years – you can find some absolute steals, and some incredible items that you would simply never come across on the high street, whether you’re looking for clothes, homewear, or electronics. Most of the time, thrifting comes with a much lower price tag than shopping for things on the high street – this is generally because charity shops and thrift shops stock largely second hand goodies. Occasionally, you’ll find something brand new, complete with tags though, so keep your eyes peeled!

Get crafty
A fantastic way of really saving money at Christmas is to get craft and make things yourself. You can keep things simple by handmaking all of your wrapping paper and gift tags yourself (brown paper and a stamp can be an amazingly effective option), or you can go all out and hand make the gifts themselves. From home baked goods to works of art you’ve created, making gifts can be great fun and they can mean a lot more to the recipient than something bought off a shelf!

Don’t give physical objects!
Sometimes words, gestures, outings, and adventures, can mean a lot more than physical objects, and they often come without a monetary cost. Consider what your friends and family really love doing, and how you like to spend time together and see if you can give them a gift that will leave them with some amazing memories rather than a physical object!
