I recently returned from a trip to Benidorm where the intention was to find a new side of this well known place. Benidorm, probably more famously known for the tv series (with its author being from Hull!) in which we see a very Brit heavy, cliche of holiday makers (which absolutely has its place) was a world apart from what I discovered away from the party scenes. Let’s get into it.
To give some background, I suppose Benidorm is more favoured as Adult only holidays and Jet2 can offer these, but there are many families who visit this area yearly. Million’s of Brits travel to Benidorm is each year and return again and again. From beaches to fun activities, there is much more to this area than we initially think. So why are people visiting?
Where I stayed
I stayed for 3 nights, at Innside Costablanca with Jet2holidays , a beach front resort. Clean and comfortable, offering access to the ocean within a few short steps but tucked away from the rowdier streets and soothed by the sound of waves. On first impression, it looked like most beach style resorts I’d stayed in before and everything was within walking distance which I loved. The breakfast buffet on offer was quite diverse and there was an option to have an evening meal which could be added if needed. We arrived with the intention to try some different activities and restaurants in the area so if you’re wanting ideas of things to do in Benidorm away from partying, then I’ve got you covered.
Benidorm Old Town
Benidorm Old Town is what you may not initially think of when you think of this city. From quaint viewing points to beautiful viewing points the old town has so much to offer. Tucked behind each corner is the perfect spot to grab a drink, soak in the sun and views.
Top tip: go for a sunrise walk. You’ll explore the old town when it’s most quiet and it’s perfect for capturing those much loved pictures.
Activities
Kayaking & Jet Skiing
I suppose it’s not unusual that with Benidorm being by the ocean there are tonnes of amazing water activities to be enjoyed. The Pisces in me was buzzing when I found out we were going to try kayaking and jet skiing in the same day. Both of these are terrific ways to explore and enjoy the views of Benidorm without being on land. I’d recommend kayaking for those wanting a slower pace but choose a calm sea day, jet skiing is more for the adventurous folk (I suppose I’m in that category as I went flying when I got on water).
Electric Bikes
If you’d rather stay on land, you could rent an electric bike. This is an incredible way to explore the area and just a short ride from the front you can head up to a nature park and enjoy some quiet whilst looking out to sea. I will say these bikes are incredibly fun and you can adjust the levels of “power” within a few clicks of a button making it a more leisurely ride or more challenging. I don’t think any of us on the trip went up the hills without a little support but it did make it feel effortless when wanted.

Off road Jeep
Did you know you can go on an off road jeep tour from Benidorm? Neither did I. The jeep will pick you up, drive you through town then up into the hills and to a few of the more famous and less famous viewing spots for a couple of hours of fun. The driver was friendly, well spoken and ensured we all got a full experience in the jeep.

Where to eat in Benidorm
I think what surprised me most was the food. I love a good tapas plate and I’d always rather choosing to share small dishes as it feels more social when it comes to eating. Here’s a couple of of places we drank and ate in that I can recommend:
Dvora Restaurante
This restaurant is located just on the edge of the sea with a beautiful view spanning the coast. Both the food and service were 10/10 and no one left disappointed. Do yourself a favour and try the Salmon with ginger and carrot puree, absolutely incredible!
Moka Bloom
Id done a bit of googling before as I really love to find a good coffee. Let me save you the effort and tell you now, go to Moka Bloom. Not only does this place have an incredible menu of diverse drinks, but the coffee quality is impeccable and so smooth. Inside you’ll also find flowers and home ware for sale which are absolutely delightful.

Aruba Beach
By far one of my favourites meals of the trip. Serving up incredible sushi plates, salads and more, there is something for everyone at Aruba beach. I feel like this is the place to grab your Instagram pictures, but more importantly enjoy some much needed chatter over some great quality food.

Overall experience
Whilst I usually fly from Manchester or Leeds Bradford, these were Flights from London Stansted Airport and it was a seamless journey there and back. Alicante airport is around 50 minutes away from Benidorm so you can enjoy Flights to Benidorm via Alicante with Jet2 and not spend too long afterwards waiting to get to resort. Would I suggest Benidorm as somewhere to go? Yes, if you’re looking for a few days of sun, fun and good food. You can even go longer if you prefer!
So all in all, when you’re thinking about holidays to Benidorm, was this what you’d expect to do?
