Hello you. I’ve been a little shy on the ole pregnancy updates haven’t I? Well funnily enough I’m now in my 3rd and final trimester. The clock really is beginning to tick and it won’t be long before my little girl arrives. I’ve had some ups and downs with this pregnancy and I think going through it at such a weird time (which I’ve written about here) has changed my perspective on the whole thing. So what did I think about my second trimester?
Well, firstly, I began to expand rapidly. This didn’t really happen with my son and it came as a little shock to me. I know that with your second you’re more prone to being larger as your body has muscle memory and relaxes and the baby ultimately pinches all the room. However, the pains I had from stretching this time have been something else. I wake up with them, I grunt and whinge constantly. I’m an utter delight about it clearly. I feel like I’m carrying a bowling bowl in the centre of my stomach and sometimes I just don’t want to move because it’s more comfortable not to. I’m already struggling to bend down to pick things up and I see I’m going to be in full bloom this pregnancy.
Secondly, heartburn has come back and oh, it’s a bitch. I called my doctor after a couple of sleepless nights and vomiting due to acid and she prescribed me some stronger acid relief. It worked the first couple of days but has since started to become ineffective so I need to call her again to try get on the ‘good stuff’ I was on with Jasper. I suppose it’s all normal though and won’t last forever. I keep telling myself this is the last time I’m doing this and to enjoy as much as possible.
Finally, exhaustion has completely got to me. I could sleep for 15 hours a night and still be tired. My toddler doesn’t allow that of course and I’m averaging 5-7 hours a night. It honestly doesn’t matter if I go to bed earlier or what (believe me I’ve tried), if Jasper doesn’t wake me, I’m up 1500 times in the night going for a wee as baby much be positioned beautifully on my bladder. I sometimes daren’t drink before bed for fear of not sleeping at all.
All in all, I found the second trimester more testing than the first. Sickness started to come at me in this stage this time, but in no where near the full force it did first pregnancy. It’s more spontaneous but sometimes I’ll be talking and then I just need to throw up. Weird eh? So I’m counting my blessings it wasn’t like with Jasper and I’m not living with my face over the toilet.
