If you follow me over on Instagram, you’ll know how big a fan I am of Etsy and that I recently held a competition over on there to win a £50 voucher. Well I thought I’d stretch out my content a little and delve into my reasons for loving Etsy over on here too.
1. Supporting Small Business
Yup, with today’s media it’s difficult to hide how dark some of the realities of running the larger corporations. When you use Etsy, you do business directly with the business owner. This essentially means you’re directly benefitting that person and oh my goodness they will love you for it. During times like these, it is important to support small businesses that have had access to little funding (or worse even, no funding).
2. Supporting Black Owned Businesses
Etsy is a fantastic place to find incredible Black owned businesses and it’s really easy to find them. No seriously, you can literally search ‘Black owned Business’ and Etsy will take the lead. From delicious baking to wonderfully intricate jewellery designs, there is something for everyone. Remember to support Black owned business.
3. Sustainability
Oh I love you. As Etsy is full of smaller businesses, they’re usually a lot more sustainable than larger corporations. The reason I say I love them so much is because they also offset 100% of their carbon emissions from the shipping process. Bravo Etsy.
4. Individuality & Variety
From personalised pet portraits (you bet I have one of Oscar) to clay boob cups based on your own breasts you can find just about anything on Etsy. Best of all, you’re pretty much guaranteed no two items will ever be the same.
