*This Post is a collaboration with Teddy Blake, but all words and opinions are my own.
The old Violet used to buy ‘fashionable’ items quite carelessly, without too much thought into how they were made, who made them and where they were made. However, in recent years I’ve become a little more conscious (I say a little because I am absolutely still learning in every aspect of the word). I now mostly limit myself to second hand purchases, one off ‘whooohaaaah’ big spender purchases that will last me pretty much forever or items I absolutely require (ello pants). I thought I’d discuss about how if you did want to treat yourself to one of those incredibly luxurious purchases (and I appreciate that not everyone can afford this) that you can do this in a much smarter way. So how do you know that it’s time to invest in that very special, staple item?
1. When you can’t stop thinking about it
It was in September this year that I spotted the utterly beautiful bag by Teddy Blake on the ever so lovely Victoria. I popped over to their website and started Pinteresting different bags to bunker down on which one I loved the most. I still think about this bag to this day and how lovely it is. However, I’d spotted one that was just a little bit more me.
2. When you’ve thought if you can style it with every item in your wardrobe
Probably the most important point as this will determine how much wear you’re going to get out of your item. Ask yourself, what can I style this with? If the answer is EVERYTHING, then you’re probably onto a winner because you’ll have no excuse but to keep wearing it. When I got this Teddy Blake Eliza Vitello bag, I knew it would go with most items (ok all) in my wardrobe and it would also be incredibly practical for stashing all the things I need to get me throughout the day.
3. When you’ve assessed it’s practicality
Ask yourself, can you afford it without plummeting yourself into debt? If not, is it worth taking some time to save up, and really enjoy the item as you’ve worked so hard for it? Secondly, does the bag fit with your practical lifestyle? I’m a mum of two, and thankfully this bag is big enough to stash some spare wipes, a nappy or two, a bottle and a dummy all whilst looking incredibly chic and storing my own items. Hoorah for large bags!
4. When you can get a good discount
Finally, if you’re determined to purchase this stellar item then it’s time for you to get super sassy on the internet and find yourself a code. Get yourself the biggest deal you can and feel super satisfied in that discounted purchase.
Have you asked yourself any of these questions when making a big purchase?
What do you consider when you’re purchasing an item of this size? Share in the comments so others can enjoy too!
