Have you ever found yourself out and about with your kids when all of a sudden, you really need something that you don’t have on you? It happens to all of us, but keeping a few essentials in your car at all times can really help in these situations. Have a read and see if you already keep these essentials with you, or think about sticking them in your boot next time you have a free moment.
- Changing essentials
If you have a baby or toddler then this one is unbelievably helpful. There are those occasions when you’re only going out for a few minutes so don’t pack your regular changing essentials, but then get caught out longer than planned. Just by keeping a couple of spare nappies, nappy bags, and a pack of wipes in the boot of your car, you’ll be prepared in case of an unexpected leaky nappy or even a poo explosion!
- Spare clothes and a small towel
No matter how old your kids are, a spare set of clothes and a little towel will always be a good thing to have on hand. Kids are amazing at getting wet, muddy, or just generally messy at the very worst times. Keeping clothes and a towel easily accessible in the car means nobody will ever have to travel when wet or uncomfy! For bonus points, throw in a spare top or set of clothes for yourself.
- Loo roll
Toilet roll has millions of uses and you can never go wrong with keeping a spare roll in the car. Whether you get caught short at a public toilet that’s run out, need to wipe snotty noses, or need to remove an insect from somewhere, loo roll has got you covered.
- Snacks
Find your favourite long life snacks and shove some in the car. Small things like individually wrapped malt loaves and packets of raisins are great for keeping in the glove box to keep hungry tummies at bay. Throw in a couple of parent snacks too to make sure you’ve got yourself covered for the next time the café is closed, or you get stuck in horrible traffic.
- A blanket
Lots of people tend to leave a blanket in their car all the time, but it’s a really useful thing for parents. Perfect for if your kids fall asleep on a long journey and like the comfort of having something over them, and equally as brilliant for having an impromptu picnic on a nice day.
