A Winters Tale: Testing Out the iPhone 7 Plus Camera

Happy Monday to my lovely followers and apologies on the delay in the post this week. Here’s a Winters Tale for you. This one’s a bit of a mixture, a combination of both outfit and testing out the new iPhone 7 plus camera. I got my new phone on Friday afternoon and haven’t been able to stop playing with it since. For those who haven’t heard, the new iPhone 7 plus has a dual camera quality to it. The upgrades to the camera for this generation of iphone include Optical image stabilisation, the aperture on the lens is much wider at f/1.8. Oh and for the selfie lovers? The front facing camera has been upgraded to 7-megapixel and quad-LED True Tone flash. Beforehand, I had an Iphone 6s and I was a little hesitant to try my hand at the larger phone but I’m so glad I did!

So onto the photos. On Saturday my sister had arranged for some photographs to be taken of my family/friends and our dogs. We visited Thwaite Hall in Hull (accommodation for the University of Hull) and I must say some of the most beautiful backdrops and scenery I’ve seen! I’ll be back again for more photos by the pond when it’s a little winterier. Whilst others were having their photos taken I took the opportunity to test out the camera and see what it was capable of.

Here’s a quick outfit pic and details for those wondering and oh yes, shock horror a blogger repeating some of the pieces from other posts.

Coat: Topshop (read more on this coat here)
Jumper Dress: H&M (also discussed here)
Boots: TK Maxx (old)
Hat: Ebay (bidding war 99p bargain)

The outfit itself is the perfect little winter collaboration. Warm and comfortable and very simple. I can’t tell you how much I love this h&m knit dress, you’ll have to read what I wrote about it on my previous post to fully understand.

So onto the Camera, doesn’t it look great? I was really pleasantly surprised when I first took a photo (of my dog!)

It was so easy to use, a quick swipe to depth effect and then a case of standing the right distance away and getting the right light. I found it contested with my DSLR and was a little shocked. If all goes well it I’ll be using this a lot more for my blog and you’ll get used to me raving about it. I mean, whats not to love? I won’t require my heavy large camera in my bag ALL the time. No Shrinking Violet

My only small quibble- and this is my fault as well, but if you don’t allow enough time for the phone to adjust to the lighting you’ll get an overexposed picture (see below). But extremely small quibble for the massive perks and the ease of having a camera phone ready for that shot you want in the perfect setting when you’ve forgot your DSLR. No Shrinking Violet

What do you think to the new shots from this phone? Leave me a comment to let me know and it will help me improve my blog and quality of images.

That’s such a good phone camera! Lovely backdrop as well, I’ll have to have a wander around there sometime 🙂

Gotta say, all my photos are currently taken on my iPhone 6 – although I’m hoping for an Olympus Pen for Christmas but that is mostly for city breaks!
