I haven’t officially announced or disclosed to you with proof that I’ve become a Mum. Yes, I have a baby! If you followed me throughout my pregnancy then you’ll be excited to see him! Whilst many of you come to my blog to see pictures of me posing awkwardly and talking about clothing I like, I’d love to share with you the birth of my little one.
Jasper Bert Glenton, born 23rd November 2017 3:50am
Of course, not everything went to plan. The actual birth itself was completely opposite of my envisioned water birth and music playlist I’d spent weeks creating. Due to a series of complications I ended up having an emergency caesarian under general anaesthetic. Although pretty traumatic looking back, I do not resent what happened. Our healthcare system is so over stretched and I could see I probably wasn’t top of the priority list. I’m just thankful everything turned out ok and after one night on the labour ward I was ready to get home.

The days that followed were much happier for me. Although for many it understandably takes time to adjust to the requests of a little crying baby (feed me, change me, hug me) I felt as though a ‘mum switch’ had gone on. I was ready for this and wanted this. Sure there are moments when it’s a little overwhelming, I’m responsible for a life, but finding the laughter amongst the chaos is what I’m best at. Thankfully my husband is also an excellent joker. If it wasn’t for him learning the beloved rainbow song, or bouncing him around to ‘baby got back’ I don’t think I’d be laughing as often. I spent the first week holding my stomach (and stitches) saying HA- HA – HA. Joe handled my hideous injections and assisted me with my mega sexy surgical stockings oooh-la la!
After the initial checks with the midwife and health visitor we have been left to ourselves until his next check up at doctors for injections. Wish me luck for that day.
All in all, it’s been a very special first 5 weeks. Whether it’s been his first bath with me, or first outing to Larkins for a meal every moment is precious. As he was born late November we also were pretty happy to have shared his first Christmas with him. He had absolutely no idea it was Christmas but we enjoyed seeing him have more cuddles with family.
Please be patient with me whilst I juggle all of this and intermix it into my blog. I hope to include more Mum/Baby friendly posts along the way. If you’re in for the journey then of course hop on and read.
