Ah Photoshop, a bloggers best friend? I don’t think so. That software is meaty. I first decided I wanted to dip my toe into the photoshop stream when I saw a handful of bloggers creating some beautiful creative images on this platform. I knew the style I liked, imaginative but not obscene. Definitely not a fan of the fake travel accounts who are one day in front of their green screen, the next the pyramids of Egypt but hey! If this is your thing, then that’s just fine.

I became Frustrated with Photoshop (and impatient)
The first, and most realistic thing about ‘having a go’ on photoshop is that you may just become incredibly frustrated. The software whilst intelligent, is a HUGE obstacle course. Filled with hurdles to overcome as you learn one skill after another. I’m still learning.. I almost through my laptop at the wall several times. My macbook couldn’t handle it, I got angry, there was chocolate.

Youtube ‘Photoshop Tutorials’ becomes your best friend
How do I cut out this? Is there a way to add a shadow? Youtube really does become your best friend on how the heck to create such wonderful images. I’ve learnt so much by doing walkthrough videos on youtube and I’ll be continuing.

I became inspired by the world around me
I’d like to say I became more creative. It’s kinda true. I literally sit looking around a room for objects I could do something with. I begin imagining up scenes in my head. It’s a lot of fun!

I had fun
Whilst it was no date night, it’s fun. Echoing the above really. I really started to enjoy coming up with new concepts and learning new skills.

I felt mega chuffed having taught myself a new skill
Ah professional development, isn’t it wonderful? It’s been A LONG TIME since I undertook any accreditation or learnt a new skill and it’s about damn time. Whilst I am absolutely no pro and still label myself a ‘beginner’, it sure feels good to give it a go.
Have you taught yourself anything new recently? Or perhaps picked up a new hobby?
