In both my personal and professional life I’ve had to be confident. It’s not really been much of a choice. I market a business, and have to be able to create conversation with total strangers in an act to form a relationship where we can work together professionally. The same goes for my blog. Whenever I attend events, I try to find my inner confidence to liaise with brands and strike up conversation (of course hoping they like me and that we will be able to work together at some point). So where the heck did I get this confidence from and what tips have I used to help me grow it?
Practise makes Perfect
You know how the more you do something, the more comfortable you get with it? Eventually that comfort turns to confidence. The inner doubt and worries you experienced the first few goes seem to fade away. For me, confidence is like a growing skill. The more I do it, the better I want to get at it. I like talking to total strangers at events now, I actually get a kick outta it. I like posing in front of the camera now because I’ve got over my initial fear that there will be a couple of dodgy images in a mix of some wonderful ones. I say keep practising.

Think it, Feel it, Be it
I am Worthy. It is OK to feel comfortable in your own skin and heck it’s great if you feel confident. Speaking with confidence is one thing but physically displaying it is harder. Body Language can express a lot about how you feel about something and readers pick up how much confidence you have in yourself. I start from the mind. ‘I can do this, I will do this, I am doing this’. This just got a little self-help like didn’t it?
Celebrate
Yes I said it. Celebrate. Every action, every little step do a victory lap in your head. Well done you, v good, pat on back hoorah! Small victories are actually some of the most confidence boosting.

Learn to Accept Rejection
Whenever I’m pitching a company, I mutter to myself ‘the worst they can say is no’. It’s true. Why not showcase the very best you can offer to work with brands you love and can benefit? The worst that will happen is they say no. If you can harden to this, I assure you your confidence will show a lot more in emails. Learning to accept that someone won’t love everything about you or your blog has been a huge confidence builder for me. Heck, if you don’t love it, I’ll darn make sure I do.

This resonates with me so much, though I did always seem to find the confidence when I was working, I was happy to walk into hotels on my own, into meetings and into events, I loved meeting new people, but in my personal life I was shocking with it, but like everything else being around people like you has helped me immensely and let’s face it there is nothing more like making an entrance with a mobility scooter 🙂 so I can’t hide now xx
