It was a late October holiday. I’d booked for Joe, Jasper and I to head to Bratislava, Slovakia but had my doubts about whether there was quite enough to keep us occupied for the full 4 days we were there. After a very quick google search I discovered that Vienna was a short train journey away at a very affordable cost. I immediately began planning a trip over there and spoke to 25hrs Hotel in Vienna to see if I could work with them. They kindly offered me a discounted stay in exchange for a little coverage and we were away. Here’s what happened during our stay at 25hrs Hotel.
We marvelled at the hotel’s beautiful interior
The hotel, which is based in the Museums Quarter of Vienna (perfect for tourism) had the most quirky and creative interiors I’d seen so far in a hotel. A wall full of disposable cameras and polaroids, walls decorated with circus paintings and lifts that had cage like features to continue the theme throughout. It represented everything delightful and quirky. We wandered around the hotel a bit to get to grips with the place. Checked out our room which was a good size for a capital city. We had a good sized bed, a cot for Jasper, a fantastic bathroom and perfectly used spaces to hang our clothing and place our belongings. Throughout the room there were reminders about being environmentally conscious and I LOVED this element. It’s something I’m becoming more passionate about so it resonated with me greatly. The room suited us perfectly for the night albeit a little on the snug side (purely because we had the cot).
We ‘oooooooed’ over the stunning rooftop terrace view
After unpacking our things we thought we’d head up to the rooftop bar to grab a drink before heading out for the evening. We got a couple of drinks that were reasonably priced and sat and looked out at the gorgeous park nearby. The hotel looks out over some of the most beautiful buildings in Vienna and fortunately for us, the sky was clear that day and we could see for miles. I could have sat there all day but Jasper had other plans to run around and we wanted to explore this wonderful city.
We slept so soundly
After finding everything we wanted to do was within walking distance (including the hotel being very conveniently located near the tourist buses) we headed back for the evening to sleep. The bed was super comfortable and when you turned all the lights out it really was pitch black. Something that is sometimes unavoidable in big cities. My son slept through the night (hoorah) and we awoke in the morning ready for a bit of breakfast.
We filled our bellies full at breakfast
Breakfast time eh? A time to relax and enjoy your start to the day. Joe & I had our breakfasts separately as Jasper wasn’t playing ball that day. The staff were super accommodating about this and had no problem with us popping up and down to grab a few little pieces for him. The breakfast buffet was a self serve, all you can eat scenario with people tending tables to remove used plates. There was plenty on offer including fresh fruits, cooked meats, a pudding type dish that was a local delicacy and fresh salmon. After filling our boots it was time to check out.
We found ourselves wanting to go to more 25hrs hotels
We were able to leave our luggage in a storage room as we weren’t getting the train back to Bratislava till later. Staff were ever efficient at checking us out and helping us with directions to where we wanted to go. We left feeling glad we’d chosen this hotel and after popping it on instagram I had tonnes recommending the Berlin one to me. Maybe I need to get on another plane eh?
What do you think to the 25hrs hotel? Let me know!
