*This post is a result of a Press Invite to a recent Jet2 event. All words, opinions and squeals (keep reading) are my own.
I’ve been a huge fan of Jet2 since their birth really. Operating low cost, affordable flights to some of my favourite destinations in the world from many of my local airports.. what’s not to love? However, never did I ever think that I’d have an opportunity to attend an event held by them. Me? Violet from Hull. I don’t think my local nail lady remembers my name (and I’ve been going there a while). Yes, I fangirled when I got an email inviting me to the #Jet2HappyHolidays event, a day planned to entice our senses with cooking, cocktail making and wreath making. All whilst discussing our favourite city breaks and Christmas market destinations.
Cooking Classes
Upon arrival, we were given a quick briefing of the plans for the day. We were to be split into groups to undertake different recipes and create some DELICIOUS food for ourselves. First up was dumplings with shredded brussel sprouts and shallots and Ashton and I were ready. The knives were sharp, we were merry… what could go wrong? Our chef taught us the full recipe, along with a couple of helpful tips on how to chop up vegetables that I’ll be inputting to my Sunday Roast Dinner special. We got to work and here’s some pictures of our creations.
Everything tasted pretty lovely if I’m not tooting my horn too much there…
Cocktail Classes
After this we began our cocktail masterclass. A quick background on the cosmopolitan, a discussion of suitable alcoholic winter choices and we were off. We were teamed up in pairs and given our instructions. With a lot of assistance from our instructor we actually created some pretty lovely drinks.
Whilst my pouring skills left something to be desired, the taste was quite excellent (if I do say so myself).
Wreath Making (and a surprise!)
Finally, we were invited to a wreath master class with local florist Living Flowers, if you’re based in West Didsbury you should absolutely check them out. Their flowers were beautiful. Onto the task, each armed with a pack of seasonal twigs and branches we set to work on our wreath making. I had a plan, to go a bit bushy, a bit spontaneous, thoughtful with colour choices and most of all have a heck of a lot of fun. This sorta challenge is something I completely love and relish. I love being creative and using my hands to create something beautiful so I was so excited when I had found out it was wreath making. However, what I didn’t expect that the ‘best’ wreath would win a city break with Jet2 for 2 people… and I really didn’t expect it to be me. But IT WAS!!!! I was a little awe struck and folks around me can attest to the fact my hands were shaking after. There were so many beautiful arrangements around me.
