*My meal and tickets for cinema were complimentary for this Christmas post but all words and opinions are my own
With the party season well and truly in swing it can be difficult to find the time for your very nearest and dearest till the big day. Joe & I made a pact after we had our son Jasper that we would set a date night aside each Christmas period to ensure we got to enjoy a little bit of us time before things got really busy. For the past 3 years we have done a similar date night, always around food and films and this year was no different. Princes Quay kindly invited us back to pop to see the new festive film ‘Last Christmas’ and to try out their own Pizza Express beforehand. With yummy food and hopefully a film that would put us into the festive spirit we got giggly at the prospect!
The Centre
So to give you a little bit of context. Princes Quay has been decked out with glittery lights and wonderful sparkly decorations that really do have you feeling in the festive spirit. A quick walk around and you’re sure to realise it is definitely that time of year. If you haven’t visited before, it in the Hull City Centre and I wrote a post on all the reasons you should go here.
The Food
Princes Quay is home to a corker of a Nando’s (it’s usually less busy than the other with a better view) and a Pizza Express. This time we were set to try Pizza Express. We’d visited many a time before so I won’t pretend we haven’t. It’s beautifully located with the floor to ceiling windows allowing you to look out onto the scenic views surrounding Princes Quay. The restaurant was fairly busy but serving times were spot on, I enquired about a few dietary requirements and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Double checking my allergies at each stage. We shared a starter but I had the Caesar Salad and Joe had a pizza for his main. Both were delish.
The Film
Vue cinema is located at the top of Princes Quay. Whilst the queue’s were quite long (it was a Wednesday evening), they moved quickly and before we knew it we had our snacks and were ready to go see Last Christmas. I won’t spoil the plot for you… but if you are wanting to get eased into the festive spirit and relax to a cosy film (with a beautiful twist) then I recommend it. Oh not to mention if you love a bit of George Michael like I do!
Will you be heading to Princes Quay this festive season?
