*This post is in collaboration with Moonpig who have kindly gifted me some products and in return they’ve asked me to share my thoughts on Mother’s Day- as I already use Moonpig obsessively it seemed a good fit!
Is it already that time of year again? Here I am, getting larger by the day with this little girl growing. Yet, I have a moment to pause for thought, think about what it is to be a mother, and how that word makes me feel. I have to admit, Mother’s day makes me quite emotional now. Beforehand, I saw it as a day to thank my mum, for everything she did, but now it makes me terribly emotional to understand just how much she has done for me. Whether or not you celebrate Mother’s day, it can be a day to reflect on the women in our lives that help us become better people. Those that love and nurture us, even if that is yourself (gooooo on, give yourself a pat on the back).
I’ll be sure to be popping my mum a few little presents, which so far have mainly been from my son Jasper. Did you realise it was a thing to get cards from your children to your parents on such events? I didn’t until recently. Luckily, Moonpig has a wide selection and given that we call my mum ‘Nanny Shazzy’ it’s nice to be able to personalise them all to suit. But, just what do you get the lady who brought you into this world, wiped away your tears, fixed your scuffed knees and most importantly, drinks cups of plastic tea with your son? For me, I’m a feeder. I love to celebrate with food so I’ll be taking my mum out for a meal. She’ll of course get some cards, possibly some flowers but I’ll be using it as an opportunity to get a couple of hours one on one time with her.
For me? This is my last year as a mum of one. I feel pretty overwhelmed with the concept of two children staring up at me next year. It’s exciting, nerve wracking and life changing.
