I’ve spent more than enough time finding things that make me sad about lockdown, so maybe it’s time to write a little list of the things that make me happy. Here’s my list for the little joys of Lockdown.
- Spending more and more time with my son and husband every day (and ultimately appreciating how much I love them both).
- Having the ability to SLOW down and reflect on thoughts and feelings that pop into my head. So often I dismiss things as I don’t ‘have the time’ to hone in on why I’m experiencing them.
- Caring less about unimportant things. The floor needs hoovering, the washing basket is full but who cares? I’m in lockdown baby. No-one is gonna notice my over flowing wash basket and nor should I care.
- Being more creative. I’ve found more ways to keep my son entertained then I actually thought I knew how. We’re now fully educated in hosting tea parties (only us and some toys) and slicing fruit.
- Making bread. Funny isn’t it? How something I would dismiss as a boring bake is now one of my favourite things to do every week. I love the long process of making a fresh sourdough loaf and the ultimate satisfaction of a week of fresh bread.
- Cooking. Sometimes I can’t be bothered, but when I can boy is it good. I’m thinking a fresh mozzarella and tomato pasta for tea.
- Skin transformation. Has anyone else completely sacked off makeup and therefore had a few weeks of wonderful skin? My skin is so soft right now.
- Appreciating my neighbours. Whether they shout over the fence to check in or ask if I need any shopping, they’re just good eggs.
- Clients who still need me. I miss working a lot. I miss feeling helpful and useful. The few clients I have left give me so much life. I’ve just come off the phone with one and to help them continue to run their businesses makes me so happy.
- Technology. Being able to stay in touch with people I love without actually touching. I would love to give my mum a hug right now though.
What’s been your little joy in lockdown?
