I’m angry. I’m hurt. Can you be kind? I feel like I spend my time upholding the standards of the household. I do my best. I try to ensure the clothes are clean on my families’ backs. I make sure their bellies are full.
I run my business, I provide.
I care for as many people as I can and in turn am met with criticism and resentment.
I am doing my best.
Worst of all, it’s from someone who is extremely close in relationships to me. Who should be able to support and offer love. Instead, I feel met with judgment and it pains me.
Largely, this has been something I’ve felt lingering over me for years. Never truly living up to the standards set. Never fully capable of filling that void of everything I needed to be.
Why don’t you offer help if you feel things need to be handled another way? Criticism and comments are little help to me, but an offer of support or the kindness of taking one task away from me goes beyond the words of “thank you”.
My house may not be the cleanest, or the tidiest but it is a home full of love. Love that in the past few months I have so harshly questioned that I had the capacity to give. You have torn the strength I have been rebuilding from under my feet and in turn I feel empty.
I will continue to be the best mother that I am able to be. The best wife that I can be. Most importantly, I will look after myself so that I can fulfil these roles. For without self care I will falter.
I wrote this post in response to a string of comments I’d received. This is your reminder to always be kind. Please be kind.

Hope you’re doing OK Violet. Think you’re absolutely right. If someone can take the time to criticise without offering solutions or support, they need to take a good hard look at themselves. X
