If you’re new around here, welcome to the blog of a long time, sleep deprived Mother of two. You see, until I became a mother, I didn’t really realise just how important a good night’s sleep was. I guess you really don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. Three and a bit years later, and plenty of sleepless nights have allowed me to really fine tune how to get a good night’s sleep, or how to pinch those perfect blissful moments of slumber around my children’s lives. So how exactly do you ensure you get a good night’s sleep? Don’t you worry, I’m gonna break it down for you.
Eliminate Caffeine from your bedtime routine
Seriously, it’s a huge no. It won’t help you sleep better and you’ll get that itching feeling to crack on with something at stupid o’ clock. Opt for a soothing camomile tea or better yet, eliminate drinks after 8pm… no one needs unnecessary toilet trips to cut into their perfect dream.
Limit Screen Use after 8pm
8pm seems to be the magic number doesn’t it? I’ve recently starting cutting out screen time from 8pm and it’s made a world of difference to my eyes. By 9:30pm I can feel the droopiness of my eyes and instead of them feeling sore and strained, they feel pretty rested. What can you do with those hours you ask? Well, read a book, get a long bath, try and relax however you fancy!
Ensure you’re well equipped with the necessary tools
For goodness sake, bin those old, lifeless pillows. Your head deserves a complete haven to rest on and that’s where Tempur come in. If you haven’t heard of Tempur, where have you been? They’ve been around 30 years which is equivalent to over 10,000 nights’ sleep, so I think they may just know what they’re doing with your mattress material. They provide pressure relieving, super comfortable pillows and the odd mattress or two (they actually seem to have one for every type of sleeper) that are created using NASA technology. I’m up for a little Out of this World sleep action aren’t you? So go on, get rid of that hard-worn bedding and treat yourself to a new pillow or two (you have to buy them in pairs right?)
Keep it consistent
Like a lot of things in life, consistency is key. As your mind adjusts to the new routine (and your body the deliciously comfortable new mattress and pillows), you’ll find the change you need. Keep it consistent and enjoy the blissful sleep.
Check List:
- No caffeine after 8pm
- Replace pillows and mattress as necessary (every 6-8 years) to ensure full comfort
- Limit screen time after 8pm
- Make this your regular routine
I hope this tips help you get a better night’s sleep and that you’ve enjoyed reading this post! Now tell me, how do you ensure you get a good night’s sleep?
