Kent, the Garden of England, is packed with fun things to do, and is certainly not short of great activities that make great dates. Whether you’re dating someone new, or a long time partner, these Kent-based date ideas are great for everyone.
St Margaret’s Bay
We all know I’m a sucker for a coastal spot. Not far from Deal is St Margaret’s Bay, a coastal beauty spot perfect for sunset walks across the beach. Take your date for a paddle in the sea, pack thermos flasks full of your favourite hot drinks, and go beach combing. This gorgeous spot is a world away from the seaside cafés and arcades that can be found on many of Kent’s beaches and is a brilliant spot to get closer to nature.
Explore one of the historical sights
Kent boasts hundreds of historical sights and exploring them is a fantastic date activity. Destinations like Dover Castle provide an enormous amount of fun with passages and secret tunnels to explore, and centuries of history to discover. Hever Castle, ancestral home of Ann Boleyn is another great castle to visit, with the added bonus of scenic gardens to amble around with your date. If you’d rather an outdoor site then try St Augustine’s Abbey where you can spend your date from Kent dating site wandering through the ruins of a Benedictine monastery while chatting to your partner. If you’d prefer to just dip your toe into Kent’s rich history, take your date for a quick walk around Canterbury Castle, which is free to walk around!
Seaside arcades
Venture to Margate or Herne Bay to try your hand at some arcade games. A classic date, arcades on the Kentish coast often feel like a time capsule from the 80s and always prove to be a great way to spend a couple of hours. See if you can win each other a prize on the claw machines, and try your hands at the penny slot machines! You could even go head to head with your date in an arcade racing game and let your competitive sides come out to play!
Oysters in Whitstable
Whitstable is world famous for its oysters, so why not take your date to sample some at the Whitstable Oyster Bar? Once you’ve dined on this local delicacy, stroll along Whitstable beach and pop in to some of the charming boutique shops along the high street. For extra romance, you could take your date from the Kent dating site to Whitstable with sunset for spectacular scenery.
Picnic in Westgate Gardens
A picnic is one of the most classic date ideas out there, and Kent has magnificent picnic spots all over the county. One of the most lovely is Westgate gardens where you can watch the punts go by while surrounded by neatly kept gardens. If you’re feeling particularly romantic then follow your picnic with a private river cruise where you can snuggle up together under a blanket while being punted along the River Stour, past some of the most lovely scenery of Canterbury.
