Going on a big family holiday can be really exciting for everyone involved, but it can also be incredibly stressful if you haven’t been able to prepare a few things before hand. To make things easier, and as enjoyable as possible for the whole family, here are a few things you can do to make your life easier before you set off on your travels:
-
Check what facilities will be available throughout your family holiday
Have a really good look at your accommodation and send the host a message if you need to find out what’s available there and can’t find the information anywhere else. See if there is a washing machine, travel cots, high chairs, and anything else that you’d like to know about. Knowing that there is a washing machine before you travel can be a real life saver when you’re on the go with kids – you won’t need to pack as much as you’ll be able to clean outfits throughout your holiday! Things like cots and highchairs are usually provided if you need them, but it’s always wise to double check as you may need to come up with a Plan B if there aren’t any!
-
See what amenities are near your accommodation
Even if you think you’ll be staying in your accommodation for most of your holiday, it’s always a really good idea to do a quick google to see what amenities are nearby. See if what shops, restaurants, and attractions are nearby and jot down their names or locations, or simple take a few screenshots on your phone! This way, if you run out of nappies or wipes, you know where the nearest shop is. If your children don’t like what’s on offer at the hotel restaurant, you know there is somewhere else you can eat just around the corner. If you fancy an impromptu day out, you know there is a water park just a short ten minute walk away!
