Poses eh? I get it, they can be super awkward. When I started my blog years ago, I found standing in front of a garden fence hard enough. I’d awkwardly pose myself statically against my green fence and hope for the best. Don’t believe me? Check this post out here with examples. I’m super happy to say that I did eventually leave my garden and venture out into the big wide world. If you’ve not read any of my other photography tips, then you may wish to head over to these two posts first, then read onwards.
Now you’ll catch me posing pretty much anywhere and feeling really good whilst doing it! Here are my top 3 poses to use for your Blogger Photography and a little note on how they’ll help you.
The Trusted Hip Lean
Having all of your weight spread evenly across both hips can (if the arms are correctly placed) make quite a powerful stance. For me however, most of the time I just look a little out of place. I find shifting my weight into either one of my hips adds a slight curve to my pose and really does wonders for composition.
Simple shift your weight into one hip, even sway if this helps (shift weight from one to the other) and apparently, I like to do this pose with a hand up in my hair…

The Seated Pose
You’re tired, you’ve been working hard getting all those angles and your hips are a little achy. Why not head on down to the floor and get to know the ground around you. The Seated Pose is one of my absolute favourites for getting really powerful images but also really friendly ones! With a simple smile the seated pose can make someone feel as though they’re in the picture with you.
Simply pop your bum on the floor, position your legs (extra carefully if in a skirt or a dress) and for goodness sake create some lines and bends with your legs by crossing them a little. Use your knees, lean on them. Pick up some pops (a coffee cup, a leaf!) and go wild.

The Leaning Pose
Oh lovely lamp post… lean. Cracking wall… lean. If there’s something to lean on I find it gives me a whole lot more than me standing blankly in front of an object. You interact and engage with your surroundings and this really brings your pictures to life.
Simply find an object you can lean on. Anything from the back of a bench to something like a column on a building. Seriously, the more unusual the better. Lean your back up against it, or use your elbow to lean onto it sideways. Play about with what looks the best.

So there you have it, 3 simple iddy biddy poses that can really impact how your blogger photography turns out. Will you be trying any of these methods? Oh and if you do, can you leave me a nosey link in the comments below and tag me in your images? I’d love to see how you get on.
