Picture a cold winter’s evening. I’ve honestly started to lose track of when the sun sets as it seems to be pretty cold and dark by 4pm. My husband and I were kindly invited to the Doubletree Hilton in Hull to sample their Marco Pierre White restaurant menu and it was a welcome, warm environment. Upon arrival, our coats were taken and we were seated in the modern, swanky, clean interiors. For a Wednesday night it was surprisingly busy. The hotel seemed to have a buzz that kept on riding throughout the whole night.
We checked out our menu’s and almost immediately knew we were in for a treat. With choices for all, and special dietary requirements welcomed, it was fairly easy for us to make our choices so we sat and awaited our order and soaked up the environment.
Opting for starters, we chose the calamari & smoked salmon. I can completely attest to the batter on the calamari being utterly fresh and crisp. Perfection! The food arrived within good time and we weren’t left too long without our mains turning up at the table.
Of course, I couldn’t say no to the triple cooked chips! We both opted for steaks but Joe picked the rib-eye and I the fillet. As I’m pregnant I got mine more cooked than my usual order but it was delicious and tender. We picked some sides of onion rings (again because of the batter), mushrooms and a cabbage and bacon side that was INSANELY good.
Throughout the meal we were consistency checked in on and our glasses were never left empty.
Of course, pudding is always my favourite part of the meal having a huge sweet tooth. I went for the Millionaire’s Shortbread which was *chefs kiss*. I couldn’t quite manage it all as the portion size was extremely generous. It came with a dark chocolate ice cream.
All in all our evening at the Marco Pierre White restaurant was wonderful. Staff were incredibly attentive, food was cooked superbly and the atmosphere was perfect for an evening of relaxation. Prices were, as expected for a quality restaurant. It would make such an excellent treat meal or special occasion celebration and I shall be returning very shortly to sample their fish and chips!
